Not the Mike Dianna you thought you would see huh? Yes the name of the restaurant is Mike Dianna's Grill Room, but the owner/operator is and has been Meghann Pauls since 2016.
Meghann moved to Corolla with her family in 1984, when there was a guard shack and a dirt road once you hit the Currituck County line. She grew up in Corolla and has always considered it home.
"Even though I don't live in Corolla anymore, I have always worked in Corolla. My first restaurant job was at my grandmother's deli next to Winks, then Miriam's in Monterey Plaza, and then JK's restaurant in Corolla. I love the small town, knowing I can walk into a store, restaurant, anywhere and know someone. It was only natural for me to buy the restaurant after a certain amount of time," says Meghann.
Meghann started working at what is now Mike Dianna's Grill Room, in 2002 as a server and bartender. It was JK's Corolla then and Mike Dianna was her General Manager. In 2005 Mike became owner of JK's and the restaurant became Mike Dianna's Grill Room. Meghann became a manager that year and eventually the General Manager until 2016 when she decided she wanted to try and call it her own.
"Mike was moving forward in his music production career, and after 12-13 years of managing a restaurant, I felt it was time to fully embrace ownership," says Meghann.
We still provide the best raw product available, USDA PRIME beef, local seafood, local produce when available and with our daily changing menu you can come in any night of the week and find something different to try. We proudly host Mustang Spring Jam and Mustang Rock and Roast each year and Mike Dianna is still around as our full time butcher.
